Living-learning communities are self-selected groups of students who live and learn together. Students in the community are required to take a course or courses related to the theme of their community, as well as participate in two programs a semester related to the theme of the community. The University Academic Master Plan looks to Living-Learning Communities as one of the major pillars of student success. The Living-Learning Community Resident Assistant oversees a residential community that is comprised of students participating in a LLC, as well as non-LLC members, in some instances.

In addition to the typical RA responsibilities, the LLC RA will also:

• Facilitate programming related to the theme/specific LLC focus (1 per month. This number is already included in your regular programming count, and is NOT additional programming)
• Attend a field trip with LLC partners and students at no additional cost (1-2x a year) · Initiate and sustain study groups (As needed)
• When possible, include the LLC peer mentor on conversations you have with students for Scarlet Chats
• Attend LLC meeting occurring Fridays, 3:30pm-5:30pm (Monthly)

There are approximately 2-3 hours a month associated with the LLC RA responsibility. The LLC RA will also receive additional training in August to understand the benefits of a living-learning community as a high-impact practice, meet LLC partners, and help to facilitate the LLC Social and LLC Student Orientation that occur in August/September.

Benefits of serving in the LLC RA role include: faculty and LLC partner engagement, additional programming funds, and early notification of your RA placement.
